Teachers Summer Workshop

Thank you for your interest in the 2022 Summer Teachers Workshop. The 2022 application is now closed.

Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.
The Summer Workshop is a professional development opportunity for middle and high school anthropology teachers from around the country. The AAA invites applications from teams of two teachers, to include an anthropology teacher and a colleague from a different content area. During the workshop, anthropology teachers and their content-area partner will produce anthropology curriculum materials, such as lesson plans and activities, that are grade level-appropriate and standards-aligned. This work is intended to promote the teaching of anthropology in secondary schools, and strengthen networks within K–12 anthropology.
Anthropology teachers will need to be available to attend the in-person portion of the workshop, Thursday, July 21 through Saturday morning, July 23, in Arlington VA. Content-area partners are welcome to attend as well. Round-trip airfare, three hotel room nights, a $500 stipend, and catered meals will be provided to each teacher during the workshop.
Applications due Friday, May 13 at 11:59 PM ET. Successful applicants will be notified the week of May 23.
If you have any questions about the workshop program or about your application, please use our contact form and choose “Anthropology education and careers” from the drop-down.
